KIT & ACE - SARAH DEWALD
I had the opportunity to collaborate with a great local blogger Sarah Dewald and an awesome fashion retailer Kit & Ace recently. I am very selective with the "test" and collaboration shoots I take on these days because I feel that anything you do for free should be worthy of your book. This fit the bill right from the get go and I was exited to see what we could come up with. The concept was fairly simple.. bright, poppy, on white, and then play with adding in colored shapes on looks it complimented.
Though our first setup was simple I did light this in a way that was new to me. We had a beauty dish as our main light then directly behind it I had a 60 inch octa box that was powered two stops below the dish. As fill I had a bare bulb Profoto D1 bouncing into a 4x8 white foam core about 15 or so feet away to really fill the room. I love this lighting and it may have been the first time I have done this but it wont be the last! There is a BTS below that shows how the main and first fill were set up.
Our second setup was really just something I asked if Sarah would do at the end of the shoot. I had just gotten this new custom hand painted canvas backdrop made and couldn't wait to try it out! The lighting on this is something fairly new to me but I love it so much. We had a beauty dish high and behind her powered a little hot then the front fill was created using that same Profoto D1 bouncing into a 4x8 foam core like the previous set. I also had the 60 inch octa far off camera left just adding a touch more directional light. This is a look I love more and more every time I use it. You can see a BTS of this setup below.
